However, many Boom Bap producers use uncleared samples, which can come with serious risks.
If you buy a beat that contains uncleared samples, here’s what can happen:
Content ID may detect the sample → you won’t be able to monetize your song, and all revenue goes to the original rights holder. In the worst case, your song can get blocked or taken down completely. Even worse: you create a great song, but can’t clear the sample later!
The truth is: you can try to use uncleared samples and fly under the radar.
If your song doesn’t gain much traction and Content ID doesn’t detect anything, you might be fine.
But that’s a risk ⚠ and one I don’t want you to take.
As a professional producer, I only use original compositions, royalty-free material, or properly licensed samples to ensure a legally secure and professional release process.

You can record, release, and monetize your song normally — safe, no risks, no worries and no producer splits until it gets big 💸 Only if your song is released through a major label or becomes very successful independently (e.g. over 1 million streams), you will need to clear the sample with the original composer under a fair, industry-standard share 🤝 I’m not involved in that process and don’t take any splits from it, since you’ve already paid for the beat license.
